Rewatched some of "Threads" last night. If you spliced in 5 years of Boris Johnson as PM in place of the nuclear attack at the start of the film, I reckon that would be pretty accurate.

there is flat out not going to be war between the US and China. There is far less chance of that than there was of a US/USSR armed conflict at almost any point during the cold war years, and save for one or two moments there was never much chance of that.

Frankly another Cold War would be pretty depressing in this age - having the media continually push a narrative of being on the brink of total destruction for a decade or so would probably take its toll in terms of mental health.

Agree with Minority Report. We already have automated vehicles and use biometric scanning. The “precogs” bit is still a bit too fictiony but I can see the judicial processes heading towards quick judgments by the court of public opinion
