Yesterday I saw a stunning Indian girl walking past Aldgate station. I followed for 2 minutes, I had no idea what I was going to say but thought I would start some idle chatter about life back home. As I walked closer to her I saw a white man walking toward her. Get your own was the immediate reaction. They stopped, hugged and kissed. A work colleague, I thought, or an old university friend. They started to walk together in the direction she was heading and before long they held hands. I felt all the energy drain out of me as I realised this was another asian girl with a non asian bf.. I wondered what her parents would think if they knew about their daughter’s behaviour. This I realised this was no longer 1998, and unfortunately Indian parents no longer disown their daughters for dating a man. Now they are happy to let their unmarried daughter go on holiday with some guy she is sleeping with.
