A partner at DLA Piper has been crowned Glamorous Solicitor of the Year 2018.

A nutty 23,000 votes were cast in the final, which came after two rounds in which 12 contenders were whittled down to three.

Despite combining the mane of a well-conditioned lion with the sparkling gnashers of a true American, only 924 votes, just 4% of the total, were cast for Mark Brennan, a Hogan Lovells partner in Washington DC.

 

Stephen Sampson came second with 9,527 votes. He performed incredibly well with his killer('s) smile.

 

But neither of them came close to the 12,831 ballots in favour of Patrick Van Eecke. He won with a definitive and very glamorous 56% of the vote. 

 

Van Eecke was commendably good-humoured about his win. "Wow! What an accolade", he said.

"Thank you to RollOnFriday and thank you to everyone who voted for me to become this year's Glamorous Solicitor! I'm both humbled and honoured.

But rather than go on with a long wordy acceptance speech, I'd like to keep it short and simple with a quote from the great Paolo Coelho, in the hope that it may inspire others in the way it has inspired me.

'Whenever you want to achieve something, keep your eyes open, concentrate and make sure you know exactly what it is you want. No one can hit their target with their eyes closed.'"
