William Clegg QC won't be winning any Oscars for his performance in a Godfather skit, but as a consolation prize he has been anointed Pandemic Lawyer of the Week, for which the bar is much, much lower.

The defence barrister and former Head of Chambers at 2 Bedford Row is used to grilling witnesses in high-profile murder cases and at war crimes trials in the Hague. But in an interview with Toks Hussain, a law consultant, the QC was asked to formulate a defence for Don Vito Corleone, a proper wrong 'un.

Helped along by the stirring score and a sepia tint, Hussain delivers a decent impression of the hamster-cheeked Mafia fixer seeking Clegg's advice.

"Let me make you an offer that I don't think you will be able to refuse," suggests the QC. "Don't give evidence, because if you do, you'll be exposed for what you are, and the verdict will be guilty."

Addressing the imaginary court, Clegg implores the jury, "this elderly Italian grandfather stands before you accused of hideous crimes of murder. Just look at him. There is no evidence that could possibly persuade you to return a verdict of guilty against this man." No doubt jurors will be helped to reach the right decision by Sonny's offer of silver or lead.

Godfather

The feared ex-head of a powerful syndicate and Don Vito Corleone.

"It was the first fictional character I have defended, but I hope not the last," Clegg told RollOnFriday. "He was much less trouble than real clients although the fee was very modest".

Should Clegg make the transition to screen, he wouldn't be the first lawyer pretending to be a lawyer. And the benchmark isn't that high.

I've been surfing online more than 3 hours today, yet I never found

any interesting article like yours. It is pretty worth enough

for me. In my view, if all webmasters and bloggers made good content as you did,

the web will be a lot more useful than ever before.

While it was all a bit of fun, I've heard better defence closing by knock around crim sold in the local mags.

That is a lovely tie, Mr Clegg.  It would be a shame if anything were to happen to it.

On an unconnected matter, I seem to recall one of your predecessors coming to a somewhat lonely and abrupt end in the Everglades.
