I find them quite handy tbh. Not paying for office. I also use libre Office which is a tolerable alternative to MS Office. I'm a big fan of open source software.
It is standard software suite at work. I LOVE the shared doc features and wouldn’t go back to anything else now. But I haven’t been trained properly on it so have no idea how to properly work it and have to pull down the docs to MS Suite if I want to do any actual work. This is how getting old starts….

You may now feel free to post that my dislike of these applications betrays some deep seated incompetence or personality flaw on my part, tx.

I always try, where possible ,to use the software of Gates, the great liberator, rather than Jobs expensive ecosystem

All the time. I work on a lot of shared docs and the collaboration/versioning/sharing side of it is significantly better than MS Office.
Used to switch back to MS regularly for certain features but find I have to do that very rarely now.

It's genuinely terrible. My PT tries to get me to use it to track progress etc I just refuse amd get her to take my data from MyFitnessPal

I work locally. If I want to share a document I email it to the relevant person.

I used to do that but once you get weaned on to the shared doc stuff it’s fantastic.
I can right-click on a cell in Sheets and bring up a history of every value ever entered into that cell, and exactly who entered it.
That’s way more useful to me 90% of the time than the occasional super-advanced feature of Office that isn’t in Docs.

Only reason I use it is my work is a start up.... simple way to get started.
