here is a q that shows the limits of my knowledge of insolvency - is this something that could happen as part of a planned restructuring or would it only be in cases of some degree of distress?
Not be dramatic but I will quite literally expire if Corbin & King go under.
Zedel, Fischers, Delaunay, Wolseley, Soutine, Bellanger...they're all just so reliable and get the basics spot on. And the central European grand cafe / brasserie vibe is endlessly appealing.
Green - I subscribe to a service which tells you what was issued the day before. As to whether you can see the docs online, you may be able to download from the CE File, but I am not sure.
Wolseley fans could soon be enjoying it all over the world assuming the business doesn't go tits up. This from last November:
Corbin & King managing director Zuleika Fennell said the company’s ultimate vision is “to put The Wolseley restaurant and hotel in every major capital city around the world”
Not number 32 though, which is where the lovely K8 Moss sits. One day I want to sit at Joan Collins's table near the window. Preferably with Joan joining me.
They didn't open The Wolesely in a former car show room, they opened it in the former restaurant China House which was in evry way superior to The Wolelsely.
It's also really not an epic clapback in that video. He admits they can't repay the loan they agreed to as part of their investment. That's the definition of insolvency, not a technical administration.
From what I read in the times it seems that they didn’t understand quite what being majority owned by a PE firm that has a bunch of loan notes into the group quite means for the founders and their plans of the firm disagrees
Caring will try to make The Wolseley and Colbert into pseudo exclusive places for people who want to get into Annabel's but can't (like the horror that is sexy fish).
The Ivy on Ken High Street is one of the worst places I have eaten in - sub pizza express.
I've never eaten in the real Ivy in London, but I've been to the ivy brasserie in Bristol once, snd the food was lovely and the service excellent. Couldn't fault them
Also not eaten in the original one, but I guess the commditisation of the original means menus are the same, and the only difference as between them is the quality of the staff in the kitchen...
I not entirely surely why you are all getting your knickers in such a twist at my comment that Pizza Express is better than the Ivy in High Street Kensington.
The old Ivy had style and class. The food was basically comfort food very well done. You'd probably be on the next table to Michael Palin or someone. But everyone was treated excellently.
The Caring chain version is only fine - I've only been twice but it seems OK. The standardised version of the originals decorative style is nicely done. But I'd never go there unless by accident.
By the way I think Annabels is quite good even under Caring.
A last remaining Cafe Rouge near me is about to be rebrnded Banana Leaf, an Asian chain owned by the same group (neat solution to the lease issue). Never heard of it - and cant imagine it will work particularly.
Café Rouge has always been utter dogshit, as have a lot of middle brow restos. Give me actual proper nice food or an XL bacon double cheeseburger from Burger King. Anything in the middle may as well fook off.

Fischers and Colbert.
Clerghers - I don't know enough about restructuring. I only know a tiny bit about contentious insolvency.
Colbert is always mega rammed.

Have always considered most of this restaurant chain to be a bit Emperor's New Clothes tbh.

I like the Wolseley. The private room is my favourite in London. I'd be astonished if it disappears.

Personal insolvency lawyers. Would it be weird if the last action on the Court file relating to a bankruptcy was the summer of 2021.

Apparently Richard Caring is looking at buying these restaurants which might lead to an improvement.

Did they give you food poisoning or something?
"And the central European grand cafe / brasserie vibe is endlessly appealing"
this is why people like it. If you don't like it, there are other restaurants
there's a lovely grand cafe type restaurant opened in Bristol last year, it seems very popular and it's easy to see why

Richard Caring buying it (I think that there is an article in the Times today) would be a disaster. It'll go the way of the Ivy :(
