I always carefully mark where my pole goes.  

Had clothes drying out today. Bang tidy. 

I've never had an issue til today.

Normally I just look for the huge bald patch on the grass but it's been very healthy lately and seems to have neatly grown over where I dug it in

Guess I'll have to crawl around tomorrow poking the ground like a madman

Is there a metal holder in the ground ? Of so, I recommend wearing shorts and then kneeling somewhere random on the lawn without looking properly. This usually works for me.
