Smartwotches

I need a new watch for sailing so pondering upgrading to a fancy smartwotch that I can also use for running and hiking.  Any recommendations?  Pondering a Garmin as I know from my sailing friends they are reliable, waterproof and have decent battery life.

I like my fenix 6x which I absolutely batter with outdoor swimming, running, cycling, skiing, golf and so on.  I can't see any features on the fancier models that I'd use.

I first bought one at the beginning of COVID.  It failed after two years out of warranty.  Garmin customer services let me have another one for £100 or so and it's still going strong.

I was pondering Instinct 2 as definitely not paying the amount they want for the watch that will do charts and communicate with Garmin instruments if you have them.

No idea about sailing but I have had a couple of Garmin for running and quite liked them.

Whatever you do don't get an apple watch. They break very, very easily if used in any sort of remotely rough environment (to be fair, they don't really claim to be tough).

Garmin all the way. Have a look on eBay. Plenty of folk upgrade to the latest version on release, and flog their perfectly serviceable current watch. I picked up my Fenix 6X this way (when the Fenix 7 was launched) for 25 percent of its list price, still working perfectly two years later.
