Manchester airport has reopened after a security scare saw 11 flights grounded and a terminal evacuated.

A bag that was thought to be suspicious was found to be safe. A spokesman said a piece MBT Men of hand luggage had been found at the main security search area in terminal one at 8.30am on adidas jeremy scott Wednesday. Less than two hours later, at 10.20am, the decision was made to MBT Women evacuate the building.

Bomb disposal experts were called in, and police are continuing to question a man who was arrested.

Greater Manchester police said terminal one had been closed as a precaution while the device was examined.
