The biennial Allen & Overy partner conference took place in Barcelona last week, ending in a gala dinner for all attendees. With the entertainment provided by contemporary streeet dance troupe Diversity. Word.
A glamorous event clearly demands glamorous entertainment, and Diversity has it in spades. The group was crowned winner of the nation's biggest crackpot filter, Britain's Got Talent (beating radio-friendly Susan Boyle).
Diversity - comprising nine dancers aged between 13 and 27 - was flown out and put up at the W Hotel in Barcelona so that they could put on a seven-minute son et lumière for a captivated audience. Sources at A&O tell RollOnFriday that after the brief show, responses from the bemused lawyers ranged from "who are they?" to "what was that?" to "shouldn't the little one be at school?"
A spokesman for the firm commented hilariously that "we've always supported Diversity at A&O", adding that the act was better value than the alternatives, and that it really wasn't too extravagant. Although on making enquiries, RollOnFriday was quoted around £14,000 for the dancers. A bargain for a seven minute performance.
The troupe - choreographed by founder member Ashley Banjo [sic] - was delighted by the opulence of its surroundings and posted excitedly on Twitter (with photos on Facebook): "Just back from Barcelona, wicked event!". You heard it here first: A&O partner conferences - officially wicked.
