Herbert Smith associate had to resign in a hurry after he was caught trying to run a porn site from the office.

RollOnFriday can reveal that back at the end of 2007 Herbies' IT team discovered that someone was trying to breach the firm's firewalls and look at sites that were very definitely not safe for work. Further investigation revealed that the user was interested in just one site. And when he was questioned about it, it turned out that his interest was more than just executive stress relief.

The associate had decided that as a way of boosting his income he would set up and run his own skin site. Which might not be illegal but, for a solicitor, is bordering on the inappropriate. However, trying to administer the site from work, during work hours and on a work computer takes stupidity to a Darwin Awards level.

    Not impressed

A spokesman for the firm said, "this unfortunate incident happened over 18 months ago. The lawyer in question resigned before we could make a full investigation and the matter ended there".
