The creators of yourbarristerboyfriend, a countdown of London's most handsome male briefs, have launched a new list rating the looks of female barristers.

American writers Natalia Naish and Sonia van Gilder Cooke's barrister tottysite has swept the City and, in the spirit of equality, this week they added 21 lady barristers.

The Ivy League-educated pair, who told RollOnFriday they expect the female countdown to "raise a few hackles", said they welcomed controversy if it starts a debate about the treatment of female barristers in the press and even in their own chambers' profiles. "Many of the women are described as 'accessible' and 'sassy'," said Naish, "which is not true of the men".

Fountain Court's Marianne Butler (fearsomely qualified but, yes, described as "fun and sassy" in the Legal 500), told RollOnFriday she was "chuffed and amused" with her appearance on the list, while Skadden's Karyl Nairn QC confessed it was "obviously the pinnacle of my career." However there's been no word from the barrister described as looking like "a princess in an Icelandic Saga, with a name like Frigg."

Turns out there are very few attractive female barristers. That's another fantasy popped.
