Wragge & Co has confirmed that it will be taking its award winning biscuits to the home of the patisserie and opening an office in Paris.

The Birmingham firm is merging with ten partner team Lefevre Pelletier & Associates. This will give Wragges a total of six offices, and the firm's trainees a shot at a seat somewhere even more glamorous than Munich.

How Wragge's award-winning biscuits will look next year

This - no doubt very expensive - expansion comes after the firm pleaded poverty when cutting payouts to the assistants it laid off back in June. So Wragges has clearly managed to find a few quid down the back of the sofa. Wragge's senior partner, Quentin Poole said that whilst the firm regretted the lay-offs, it had to "protect and sustain the business for the long term and sometimes that results in painful short term decisions".

The strategy may well be wise - firms based in the UK were generally hit harder by the downturn than those with a strong overseas presence, and the new office may provide a further element of hedging for Wragges.
