CMS Cameron McKenna has cancelled its London staff party next month.

Duncan Weston, the firm's Managing Partner, emailed everyone on Tuesday to say that the party would be postponed from 3rd December to "either February or March". Apparently this is because "we have a lot on our plate for the month of December, including our business services transformation and a continued focus on revenue generation". I.e., we don't want to be seen to be partying it up when we're about to make a load of support staff redundant, and hangovers impact on your ability to bill.

    Merry Christmas!

This grinchlike behaviour has gone down predictably badly at Camerons. One insider said that the real reason was that the firm didn't want to foot the bill for a bunch of staff who are going to be fired as part of the Integreon tie-up. Another simply says that "motivation couldn't be any lower".

A spokeswoman for the firm accepted that this might go down badly, and said that "we had just taken the decision that the best time to have our party would be next year".
