DWF has placed another 21 staff into a redundancy consultation. RollOnFriday understands that the majority of them are legacy Cobbetts staff.

The jobs are being lost in DWF's finance teams in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Birmingham, Leeds and Manchester. DWF has merged with three firms since 2012, and acquired Cobbetts last year when the Manchester-headquartered firm collapsed into administration. As a result, the firm is getting rid of their different accounting systems (and the poor buggers who operate them) so that it can use one type of calculator thoughout the firm.

Legacy Cobbetts staff long ago realised that their DWF lifeboat was a bit leaky. First there was a breakdown in the loo-paper supply chain, then there were fee-earner redundancies, then it was discovered that ex-Cobbetts supervisors were getting paid less than their trainees.

Andrew Leaitherland, Managing Partner and CEO of DWF, told RollOnFriday, “It is with real regret for the individuals concerned that we have just announced a proposed restructure of our finance team...We will of course do everything we can to minimise the number of people affected and to support them should they need to find another role."
