A young US lawyer has been charged with three counts of prostitution.

25-year-old Reema Bajaj, a sole practitioner in Chicago who does pro bono work for the Public Defender's Office, has been accused of going on the game before being admitted to the bar last November. She is accused of performing sex acts on men for between $50 and $100 each and, because one such act was alleged to have been in the vicinity of a school, that's a felony rather than a misdemeanour, with a possible jail term on conviction.

Bajaj turned herself in after a warrant was issued for her arrest - but promptly posted all the details on her website (which is currently down). She has denied the charges, but said that "I am probably one of the few attorneys who knows what it feels like to be accused and in need of help".

Bajaj seems an unlikely prostitute, which has inevitable fuelled interest in her position from the press. Her college colleagues were shocked at the accusations, but then abovethelaw claims to have seen pictures of her displaying her front bottom, so anything's possible...
