A Macfarlanes lawyer has secured £150 as the winner of the RollOnFriday Christmas Quiz.  The funds could have enabled him to retire from law immediately, for a lavish life in Montecito. However, he opted instead to buy lunch for his team with the newfound wealth.

RollOnFriday's readership is made up entirely of brainboxes, but due to fiendish posers in the festive quiz, fewer than 10% of respondents got full marks. 

To pick a winner, ROF pasted the names of those with full marks onto snails and released the gastropods on the M25, junction 10. The first snail to make it to the finish line (the Nando's at Cobham Services) bore the name of the winner*. And that person was...Macfarlanes associate, Markos Day.

“I am over the moon to have won the coveted Christmas quiz prize, this certainly features high up on my list of legal career highlights! You can always count on ROF to spread a bit of amusement and joy," said Markos.

Given the choice of £150, or lunch with the ROF team, the Macfarlanes lawyer grabbed the money, but for a worthy cause: "I will be opting for the £150 cash prize so that I can treat my team to a celebratory middle-eastern wrap at Maoz, in a bid to ease the January blues.”
