Arizona

There’s gonna be a shootout there come November for sure

There’s an abortion law actually on the ballot alongside the GE. God help all those needing protection until then, but with luck Trump is going to be brought down by his contempt for reproductive rights and for women. Try grabbing that, shitgibbon.

This is alarming. Especially in such a key swing state 7 months out from an election. If only there was something that Biden could do to differentiate himself from the GOP and attract more of the key voters occupying the middle ground

it's funny to see the panic among republicans about this, Kari Lake is on record cheering for this law to be put in place but post the roll back of roe v wade and with a majority of voters turning against this she's watered down her support considerably

It's almost as if they're too fvcking stupid to realise that what their nutter wing wants is too much for the rest of their own voters, let alone the rest of the country.

Well, Gorlami, I'm pretty sure that the "being publicly and avowedly against stripping women of their right to choose" thing should do the job effectively.

I think you know I wasn’t referring to that issue Cru. The Dems position on that issue (which is undeniably the right one) is consistent across the country. No, I was talking about another issue. One where the polls are showing that Democrats have strong support for a position which Biden appears to be ideologically opposed to

Cru - why is it so hard for you to countenance any criticism of Biden?  Im solidly towards the left on the US political spectrum on most issues. And like the majority of registered Democrats, I’m in support of an immediate ceasefire in Gaza from which I believe that a deal could be struck to release hostages/prisoners on both sides. It’s indisputable that Biden is not (yet) supporting that. This may cost him votes in November and those votes may be in key states like Arizona. If that does transpire, it raises the risk of us getting another Trump term as well as - in Arizona - the continuation of this abortion ban (not to mention immigration restrictions etc etc). Commentators who you and I both like (Mehdi Hassan) are saying the same thing.

"Cru - why is it so hard for you to countenance any criticism of Biden? "

It really isn't, I have absolutely no issue with the legitimate criticisms of him, including the fact that his stance on Israel is deeply disappointing, not just because it has alienated an admittedly vocal minority  (but a minority nonetheless) of his base, but because I expected more from him, morally.

Why is it so hard for you to avoid inserting your current obsession into virtually every thread that is US related?

This thread is about Arizona and the anticipation that it will be a pivotal state in November’s elections. It was a natural corollary then that any other topic that may concern Arizona voters and have an impact on November’s elections is fair game.

If the thread had only been about the Arizona abortion ban situation (with no comment to link it to the election) I would not have made any reference to Israel/Gaza.

Before you refute this out of hand, you can check that there was another thread about Trump’s lawyers (I think by Scylla) that I commented on today with no reference to Israel/Gaza.

Okay, but based on g'wan's comment, I'm not the only one who thinks you have something of an obsession.  Anyway, anyone can post what they want, where they want, obvs, so you do you.
