Johnson Winter Slattery has opened a new office in Brisbane. The office will be staffed by a senior JWS partner, an ex-Freehills partner and an infrastructure specialist freshly poached from Mallesons.

Managing Partner Peter Slattery told RollOnFriday "With expertise in Energy, Resources, Major Projects and Dispute Resolution on the ground in Brisbane we expect we will be better equipped to broaden our relationship with existing clients operating in Queensland as well as win new opportunities". And lawyers who are minded to sunnier climes should stay tuned: the firm is looking to recruit. The firm says it's particularly looking for Energy, Projects, Dispute Resolution and Resources lawyers.

The news follows last week's revelation that salaries in the area are on the up. A spokeswoman for JWS said that the firm "will always be competitive to get the right people".

It's the fifth office for the Adelaide based firm and is more evidence that there is plenty of bucket and spade work up North. And that firms are more than willing to follow the work.
