Slater & Gordon announced plans this week to acquire Queensland firm Trilby Misso Lawyers for $57 million.

Trilby Misso is a specialist personal injury firm with over 150 people across five offices in south east Queensland. The acquisition will cement S&G's position as the number one personal injury firm in Queensland by some distance.

According to S&G's MD Andrew Grech, “Trilby Misso delivers growth that would have taken us a number of years and a heavy investment to achieve organically,” he said. “It also gives us a fantastic revenue base and highly skilled and experienced practitioners.”

The ASX listed purchaser intends to fund the acquisition through cash, equity and deferred consideration, with the cash component coming from a capital markets fund raising.

Loyalty if ever we have seen it.

It's been a busy week for S&G - no stranger to the spotlight. The firm has been approached by disgruntled Elders shareholders for a possible class action against the company. And that's to say nothing of the small matter of Kevin Rudd's usurpation by former S&G partner, Julia Gillard.

Describing her time at S&G, fellow partner Paul Henderson said, "She was always compassionate, professional and loyal.”
